TWINSPAN

BIOGRAPHY

Twinspan was an alternative rock and metal band from southern Louisiana. The band started in the town of Abita Springs, located about 45 mintues from the city of New Orleans. Prior to forming the band, guitar/vocalist Matt Delcambre and bassist/vocalist Reid Markham were in a cover band called A Rose For Emily with other local musicians. The duo broke apart from the band in 2013 when Delcambre and Markham were just 15 and 16 respectively. Over the next several years, the pair struggled to pull together the rest of the group, cycling through drummers from 2014 until 2016. However, with drummer PJ Huesmann, the band was able to write and record their first release Oak to Stone, a five track EP. The EP was met with some local success, mostly through the schools and friend groups of the band but with help from their parents, the band was able to play locally and throughout the states of Lousiana, Texas and Missisippi until Huesmann's departure from the band in mid-2015. That summer, the band toured with fill-in drummers and played several acoustic shows. Stepping up the plate later in 2015, drummer Jesse Bennett assisted in the writing and recording of the bands second release, a full length album entitled Anthems of Your Scene Phase.  The album was released in the summer of 2016 and was to be followed by a tour across the south but because of creative differences, Bennett left the band just before the tour. Delcambre and Markham continued the tour as an acoustic duo with reduced appearances and eventually began auditioning new drummers in the fall of 2016. Luckily, the band met drummer Patrick Case shortly after their search began and so the band began to play live again in late 2016 with a full outfit. The following year brought change for the band, a new release (Purple Saber Affliction, a five-track EP) and more touring. However, the tumultuous journey was far from over as the band entered a multi-year hiatus from late 2017 until early 2019. During that time, the members of the band pursued college and careers. Reconvening in 2019, the band planned new dates including a comeback show in Mandeville, their hometown for many years, as well as a new album for 2020. Case joined the band for a few shows before leaving for personal reasons while Delcambre and Markham continued playing shows with drum tracks and a second guitarist, Marek Mason. In 2020, just after the COVID-19 pandemic began, Delcambre and Markham began work on a new album entitled Erratus. This album would become the final release by the band (except a cover album entitled F*ck Radio which featured only one original work) and was released in late 2020. The following year, Markham parted ways from touring and was replaced along with Mason by bassist Jade Anderson and guitarist John Elder. The group continued for one more tour before deciding to formally end the band in 2021. Twinspan some resurgence one final time from 2023 until 2024 for several shows and a few re-releases of older music with a temporary line-up but because of creative differences, the band was again disbanded forever in 2024.

Some of the most notable achievements for Twinspan was a success touring career of about 120 live events, including several Battle of the Bands, supporting spots for names like Nekrogoblikon, Puddle of Mudd, The Spill Canvas, New Years Day, Waterparks, Trapt, Alien Ant Farm, Saturate, Superbob,  and many others. The band also participated in the 2014 Music Forward Foundation event at the House of Blues and notably played Rock Fest 2024 in Wisconsin before disbanding.

The legacy of this band lives on through Delcambre, Markham and Case, all who are pursuing their passions and keeping music alive!
